Pre-treatment:

  • At least 1 month prior: stop Accutane
  • 2 weeks prior: avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, or sunlamps.  One cannot be treated with a tan or a          sunburn in the face.
  • 3-5 days prior: suspend use of dermo-cosmetic products that may affect the sensitivity of the skin:
    • Vitamin A derivatives such as Tretinoin, Differin, retinoids, glycolic acid
    • exfoliants such as AHAs, BHAs
    • skin lightening creams like hydroquinone, kojic acid
    • alcohol based products
  • Prior to arrival, facial skin is ideally clean. Ensure face is thoroughly cleansed.  ALL makeup must be removed.


Post-treatment:

  • Apply a re-epithelializing cream to improve the healing process; patients can apply as often as needed.  Cream recommendations to select from are:
    • Bariederm Cicacream (Uriage)
    • Cicaplst (La Roche-Posay)
    • Cicalfate (Avenne)
    • Aquaphor (Eucerin)
  • Edema (swelling), erythema (redness), and small scabs are expected to last for 7-15 days, depending on aggressiveness of treatment.
  • Patients with darker skin may use a topical soft steroid twice a day for 5-7 days to improve the healing process and avoid post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • If there is history of cold sore, prescription Valtrex (anti-viral) may be started immediately after the procedure , and continue once a day for 3 more days
  • May apply make-up after 3-5 days.
  • After 7 days, may resume topical treatments and skin care dermo-cosmetic products, such as retinol and acids.
  • For at least 7-15 days, strict avoidance of sunlight to avoid skin darkening

  • Medium: Redness, edema (swelling), and possible pinpoint bleeding immediately with darkening of the skin until the micro-scabs flake off in 3-5 days.  Possible pink tinge after flaking for an additional 1-2 weeks depending on density of treatment.
  • Deep: Redness, edema (swelling), oozing and pinpoint bleeding immediately after with a healing time of 5-7 days.  Darkening of the micro-scabs which typically flake off in 3-5 days. Pink tinge after flaking off for an additional 1-2 weeks depending on density of treatment.

  • Ultra-Light: 2-3 days of redness and possible mild flaking
  • Light: 2-3 days of redness with flaking around Day 3-5.
  • Medium: Redness immediately and peeling starting day 3-4 lasting approximately until day 7.  Possible pink tinge after peeling for an additional 1-2 weeks.
  • Deep: Redness and oozing immediately with peeling starting in 2-3 days.  Pinkish tinge after peeling for an additional 1-2 weeks.

  Each treatment is 6 weeks apart. One typically needs 4-8 treatments. New hair follicles can develop over one’s lifetime; hence, maintenance treatment is recommended once or twice a year.


Pre-treatment:

  • 3 weeks prior: avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, or sunlamps.  Area of concern cannot be treated if there is a sunburn.

  • Shave treatment area at least 24 hours prior to hair removal. Do not use wax or clippers.
  • Prior to arrival, skin is ideally clean. Avoid use of make-up, lotion and deodorant (depending on area to be treated)


Post-treatment:

  • An aloe vera based gel can be applied for comfort.
  • Slight to moderate redness/wheeling which can last for a few minutes to a few hours.
  • Can apply hydrocortisone 1% twice daily for two days.
  • Avoid sun for 7-15 days to avoid skin darkening.

 Treatment sessions are performed at 4-week intervals for a total of 4 sessions. Maintenance session every 6 months


Pre-treatment:

  • May have pre-treatment with Valtrex (prescription anti-viral) 3 days before the procedure if one has a previous history of cold sores.


Post-treatment:

  • Swelling is expected immediately after the session, and may last for 24 hours.
  • Expect surface peeling and superficial scab over the vermillion border (lip outline) for 3-5 days.
  • Recommend to continually apply Vitamin E, coconut oil, Vaseline or Aquaphor to minimize the extent of peeling.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • For at least 3 days, avoid pigmented lipsticks, vinegar, and spicy food.
  • May continue treatment with Valtrex (prescription anti-viral) after the procedure and for 3 more days if one has previous history of cold sores

   Treatment sessions are performed at 4-6 week intervals for a total of 3-7 consecutive sessions. It is recommended to do 1 session per decade of life, followed by yearly maintenance treatments.

  • 2 weeks prior: avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, or sunlamps.  Neck cannot be treated if there is a sunburn.

Pre-treatment:

  • No pedicure/painted nails.
  • Topical anesthetic is optional.


Post-treatment:

  • Immediately after, patient may resume topical treatments (if on them).
  • Pain should be expected immediately after the session, lasting 2-3 hours.
  • No pedicure should be done during treatments.
  • It is recommended to throw away old socks and get new ones.
  • Place shoes in freezer to decontaminate and prevent re-infection.
  • After using shoes, pass the blow dryer for 5 minutes.

  • In rare cases, significant swelling can be present; patients can take antihistamines such as Claritin/Zyrtec to relieve symptoms.
  • 3-5 days after, topical treatments and skin care dermo-cosmetic products may be resumed.
  • For 7 days, strict avoidance of sunlight for at least 7 days is necessary to prevent skin darkening.
  • Strongly encouraged to apply broad spectrum sunscreen 3 times a day (around 7 am, 12 pm and 2 pm)

VASCULAR LESIONS

Follow-up treatment in 4-6 weeks. The patient should expect multiple treatment sessions if complete clearing of unsightly blood vessels is desired (usually up the three) with at least a 4-6 week interval between sessions. Reoccurrence is possible.


Pre-treatment:

  • pre cool area with ice.


Post-treatment:

  • Cool immediately after with cold air cooling and/or ice for 3-5 minutes.
  • Perivascular swelling and redness should be expected immediately after the session, lasting 5-15 minutes.
  • Petechiae (tiny, red, pinpoint spots) and/or bruising over the treated telangiectasias can be expected to last 7-15 days.
  • Apply arnica cream/gel over the treated area with a gentle massage, 2-3 times a day as needed to improve the appearance of petechiae.
  • An aloe vera-based gel can be used to soothe the skin.
  • Patients with darker skin may use a topical hydrocortisone 1% twice a day for 5-7 days to improve the healing process and avoid post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • For 3 days, recommend elastic bandaging (such as ace wraps) for 3 days after the initial treatment for better results.
  • For 3 days, avoid hot baths.  The patient may shower (lower temperatures are recommended) if the elastic bandaging is reapplied afterwards.
  • For 3 days, avoid exercising.  Exercise increases the blood flow and may reopen the blood vessel.

VECTORLIFT

  Treatment sessions are performed at 4-6 week intervals for a total of 3-4 consecutive sessions.


Pre-treatment:
